Wind Chimes, For Your Health

Wind Chimes, For Your Health

Do you find the sound of wind chimes pleasing to your ears? A few years ago, I bought a set of tuned wind chimes at an antique mall. They have been gracefully playing a beautiful wind song on my back porch ever since. The past few days, it has been especially windy here in Arkansas. My wind chimes have been singing nonstop! Hearing them made me wonder if there were any health benefits to wind chimes besides just being pleasant to listen to.

After doing some quick research online, I discovered that wind chimes have been used since prehistoric times. Apparently, our early ancestors used them to scare away birds and evil spirits. Chimes have been used in sacred places and temples for thousands of years. Some pitch chimes have been used to determine season and climate changes.

Wind Chimes have been known to have a healing effect on your body and mind. Some of the benefits include stress reduction, lowering blood pressure, promote relaxation and inducing creativity. You may encourage inner peace and conscious awareness by listening to chimes.

There are numerous types of wind chimes, ranging from delicate glass chimes to clanky bamboo. Each come with their own unique tone and pitch.  Some are made from stringing up vintage forks and spoons! The possibilities are endless when it comes to material for chimes.

The size of the wind chimes determines the tone. Smaller chimes produce a tinking sound, larger chimes have more of a deep, rich sound. When buying wind chimes, you should select a set that is pleasing to you. I personally like the sound of  aluminum chimes.

Wind Chimes range in prices from a few bucks to hundreds of dollars. There are lots of DIY tutorials on how to make your own wind chimes from things you can find in your home. Here is a great place to start if you are interested in making your own.

If you are in need of some relaxation or just want a tranquil sound filling the air, get a set of wind chimes! From health benefits to warding off evil spirits, wind chimes can be beneficial.
